Mehcaab

biography

I began my musical "career" - if you want to call it that - as a drummer at the age of 12. My father was a drummer in a number of bands before I was born, and while I was young. I started playing the drums because they were the most available. During high school, I played in an all-Metallica-cover band. All four of us were basically beginners. We dropped the all-Metallica-covers eventually, and expaned to other rock and metal. We never created anything original, though, because break-up was inevitable (and our bassist was weak at the time). I played drums in a blues band for about a year and a half while simultaneous playing with my original band. During college, it was hard to play with anyone, especially without having drums. I picked up the guitar, and have been playing that ever since. I enjoy playing both, drums and guitar, but I'm a drummer at heart. I'm a little apprehensive about sharing my music, not because of the music itself, or the composition, or even the lyrics; but because I am not a singer in any sense of the word. So enjoy - if you can.

I came up with the name Mehcaab (pronounced like macabre) because of the meaning, and also the Fibonnaci sequence.

Would Not Bet On This

May 1st, 2006 + 2:05 PM  ·  Mehcaab

Okay, okay... here's another song, that needs vocal work. Any feedback about the song would be appreciated. I will work on it when I have the time.

I wrote this thinking about my friend who served in a war for 28 months...

Lyrics:
I would not bet on being here.
Or wouldn’t I?
I would not bet that that is all.

Not that I’m backing down.
Not in better times.

I would not bet on being here.
I would not bet their dealing.
I would not bet you’re dealing.
While my days are thinning.

You know that ain’t all.
I would not bet on dying alone.
I would not bet on going away.
I would not stay down.
I would not bet on that again.

I would not bet on drowning.
I would not bet on being here.
I would not bet on falling.
With my face all down in.
I would not bet on dying.
Could you see I’m on my…?
I would not stay down.

Sins

April 21st, 2006 + 10:04 PM  ·  Mehcaab

This is probably my most polished song to date. I wrote and recorded it all. I think I just put the main guitar on a loop. I'll explain more about it once people say some things. I don't want to give it all away.

lyrics: (in case you care)

Down here dying alone
No way to get home
I’m left here alone
No way to get home

Paying for their sins
I don’t know where to begin
We all pay for their sins
Paying for our fathers’ sins

Time to move along
Time to move along

I’ve been left dying alone
Searching with my eyes closed
Searching for the favored one
Lost and blind, my eyes are closed

I’m dying to go home
Time to move along
